摘要: The capacity to generate myriad differentiated cell types, including neurons, from human embryonic stem (hES) lines offers great potential for developing cell-based therapies and also increasing our understanding of developmental mechanisms. In addition, the emerging development this technology as an experimental tool represents a opportunity neuroscientists interested in mechanisms neuroprotection neurodegeneration. Potentially unlimited generation well-defined functional neurons hES patient-specific induced pluripotent cells new systems study disease mechanisms, signalling pathways receptor pharmacology within cellular environment. Such may help overcoming interspecies differences. Far replacing rodent vivo primary culture systems, disease-specific cell-derived offer complementary resource overcome issues differences, accelerate drug discovery, mechanism provide basic insight into neuronal physiology.
