摘要: Heat-stable enterotoxin (STa), elaborated by enterotoxigenic Echerichia coli, is a worldwide cause of secretory diarrhea in infants and travelers. Both STa guanylin, peptide structurally similar to STa, increase intracellular cGMP levels after binding the same intestinal receptor, guanylate cyclase C (GC-C). Distinct from its role as an secretagogue, guanylin may also have proliferation, expression lost adenomas. To determine function epithelia, null mice were generated using Cre/loxP-based targeting vector. Guanylin grew normally, fertile showed no signs malabsorption. However, colonic mucosa significantly reduced. The epithelial cell migration rate was increased numbers colonocytes expressing proliferating nuclear antigen (PCNA) present crypts well. apoptotic index littermate controls. We conclude these studies that loss results proliferation epithelia. speculate colonocyte number related decreased this plays susceptibility adenoma formation and/or progression.
