摘要: The purpose of the current study was to validate use CT for selection against osteochondrosis in pigs by calculating positive predictive value and comparing it macroscopic evaluation, using histological examination as reference standard. Eighteen male, hereditarily osteochondrosis-predisposed piglets underwent terminal at biweekly intervals from ages 82–180 days old, including scanning, macroscopic, evaluation left distal femur. Areas ischemic chondronecrosis (osteochondrosis) were confirmed sections 44/56 macroscopically suspected lesions, resulting a 79% (95% CI: 67–84%). Suspected that is; focal, radiolucent defects ossification front scans corresponded areas 36/36 histologically examined 100% 90–100%). superior diagnosis early stages femur piglets. validated observations can potentially be extrapolated diagnostic monitoring juvenile osteochondritis dissecans children, or animal models human articular cartilage injury repair. © 2014 Orthopaedic Research Society.
