摘要: Post surgical wound infections are global problem in the field of surgery associated with long hospital stay, higher treatment expenditure, morbidity and mortality. Hence to address limited data Ethiopia on post infections, we conducted this research determine prevalence antimicrobial susceptibility patterns aerobic bacteria post-surgical infected patients Ayder teaching referral hospital, Mekelle, Ethiopia. Hospital based prospective cross sectional study was carried-out 128 who had undergone general orthopaedic wards, showed symptoms infection clinically from January June 2012. Standard bacteriological methods were used for bacterial isolation pattern. A total (98 male 30 female) clinical signs enrolled. The age ranged 15–79 years (with mean 35.95 ± 19.01 years). Out swabs taken, 96/128 (75%) culture positive aerobically, yielding 123 isolates. these predominant isolates Staphylococcus aureus 44 (35.77%), Klebsiella species 29 (22.76%) Coagulase negative Staphylococci (CoNS) 18 (14.63%). No found be sensitive all antibiotics tested. Isolated 102/123 (82.92%) multi drug resistance commonly hospital. However, 54/ 65 (83.1%) Gram 58/58 (100%) Gentamicin Vancomycin, respectively. Prevalence Post-operative rate current 75% seen 102/123(82.92%) leaving clinicians few choices drugs patients. This underscores periodic surveillance etiologic agent antibiotic prevent further emergence spread resistant pathogens.
