Factors associated with patient visits to the emergency department for asthma therapy.

摘要: Acute asthma attacks remain a frequent cause of emergency department (ED) visits and hospital admission. Many factors encourage patients to seek treatment at the department. These may be related patient himself or health system that hinders control. The aim this study was identify main lead admission asthmatic ED. A cross-sectional survey all who visited room with bronchial over 9-month period undertaken two major academic hospitals. following data were collected: demographic data, control in preceding month, where by whom treated, whether received education about its medication patients’ reasons for visiting Four hundred fifty (N = 450) recruited, 39.1% males mean age 42.3 ± 16.7. duration 155.90 ± 127.13 weeks. Approximately half did not receive any information as disease, 40.7% regarding how use medication. Asthma controlled partially majority (97.7%) ED bronchodilator nebuliser (86.7%) obtain oxygen (75.1%). Moreover, 20.9% believed managed them faster than clinic, 21.1% claimed their symptoms severe enough they could wait clinic visit. No uncontrolled are leading (three more visits/year), p-value = 0.0145 p-value = 0.0003, respectively. also exhibited significant relationship inhaled corticosteroid ICS (p-value =0.0401) =0.0117). This demonstrates many avoidable risk visits.
