摘要: Recently, we examined the spermatogenesis cycle length in two shrews species, Sorex araneus characterized by a very high metabolic rate and polyandric mating system (sperm competition) resulting short Crocidura russula much lower monogamous showing longer cycle. In this study, investigated Neomys fodiens an intermediate rate. We described stages of seminiferous epithelium according to spermatid morphology method calculated using incorporation 5-bromodeoxyuridine into DNA germ cells. Twelve males were injected intraperitoneally with 5-bromodeoxyuridine, testes collected. For determination, applied recently developed statistical method. The is 8.69 days total duration based on 4.5 cycles approximately 39.1 days, between S. (37.6 days) C. (54.5 therefore congruent both hypothesis sperm competition hypothesis. Relative size 1.4% body mass indicates promiscuous system.
