摘要: Abstract Background Gallstone is a complex disease caused by multiple environmental and genetic factors. One of these mucin glycoproteins. This case–control study aimed to investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at MUC1-4 genes gallstone. Methods The included 475 cases 941 controls. Eight tagging SNPs were selected: one MUC1, two MUC2, five MUC4. There was no available SNP MUC3. Genetic effects initially evaluated multivariate logistic regression. combined from further evaluated, as well sex-specific effect. Permutation used correct for testing. Results genotypes all in Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. rs7396030 MUC2 yielded p value 0.03. Further analysis showed significance solely with male subjects (  = 0.005). Similarly, rs4072037 MUC1 only significant  = 0.035) males. permutation empirical values 0.005 0.02 rs4072037. For males, effect an OR 4.68  = 0.0008). Conclusions are significantly associated gallstone men but not women. These can work jointly increase susceptibility Chinese population.
