摘要: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect conventional low-intensity transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) waveform and frequency characteristics on experimentally induced acute pain. Each 28 male subjects received six forms TENS one control treatment during a single testing session. Treatments used two waveforms (monophasic or biphasic) three frequencies (30, 60, 85 Hz) administered forearm. Treatment effects were ascertained from alterations in pain-threshold pain-tolerance responses by noxious ipsilateral fifth digit. had negligible pain threshold. results indicated that did not influence tolerance significantly. Pain tolerance, however, increased significantly at 60 Hz but decreased both 30 ( p < .05). We concluded is an important factor altering subjects' perception
