Ytterbium-ion pairs in Yb:CsCdBr3; ion-ion interaction and the electronic ground state investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy

摘要: Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of Yb3+ ions in the optically bistable compound Yb:CsCdBr3 are presented. The features observed assigned to symmetrically coupled pair complexes type Yb3+-VCd-Yb3+ (VCd being a cadmium vacancy) whose axis is parallel crystallographic c-axis. There no asymmetric pairs Yb3+-Yb3+-VCd. It shown that simulation possible only if an exchange interaction taken into account spin Hamiltonian. value J = -0.0016 cm-1 shows antiferromagnetic but extremely weak. also found there significant relaxation (about 12%) toward Cd vacancy. From experimental g-tensor values, it established lower ground state CsCdBr3 mainly composed 4f (63%) and 4fδ (32%) ytterbium orbitals. has been previously proposed optical bistability due On basis present work, this now appears unlikely.
