Optical properties of an elliptic quantum ring: Eccentricity and electric field effects

摘要: Abstract We have theoretically studied the electronic and optical properties of a GaAs/AlGaAs elliptic quantum ring under in-plane electric field. The effects an eccentric internal barrier -placed along field direction, chosen as x-axis- incident light polarization are particularly taken into account. one-electron energy spectrum wave functions found using adiabatic approximation finite element method within effective-mass model. show that it is possible to repair structural distortion by applying appropriate field, compensation almost complete for all states study. For both concentric intraband very sensitive probe laser polarization. As expected, in systems with eccentricity distortions spectrum, well response, strongly depends on direction externally applied effect can be used signature eccentricity. demonstrated possibility generating second harmonic response at double resonance condition polarized x-axis if or/and break inversion symmetry. Also, strong third signal generated triple specific interval values when y-polarized light.
