摘要: Abstract The use of polymeric polyelectrolytes as matrix-forming agents is far from optimally or fully understood. Polyelectrolyte carrageenan (CARR) matrices loaded with oppositely charged active substance doxazosin mesylate (DM) were investigated according to their water-uptake/erosion properties, in situ complexation ability CARR DM, and the possibility achieve dual drug release control. Interactions between different types (ι-, κ-, λ-) DM confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron microscopy (SEM), zeta potential measurements. Combination prolonged for more than 24 h. rate order was accordance number ester sulfate moieties per disaccharide unit CARRs (κ (1) > ι (2) > λ (3)). higher charge on backbone, interactions slower release. Low pH, vigorous hydrodynamics, ionic strength resulted faster Based measurements CARRs, proposed influence counterion condensation its effect screening polyelectrolyte–drug lower DM–CARR complexation. Dual control polyelectrolyte offers many new approaches designing controlled-release systems.
