Habitat use by guanacos (Lama guanicoe, Camelidae) in northern Patagonia (Mendoza, Argentina)

摘要: Strategies of habitat use the guanaco were analyzed in early and late summer, when parturition lactation increase nutritional needs predation risk. The daily distribution guanacos was followed by scan‐sampling, relief soil measured each habitat, vegetation point‐quadrat method. Guanacos showed a selective use, preferring open areas with grasslands, gentle terrain low hiding cover. density positively associated intensively eaten grass Panicum urvilleanum, negatively rocky soils, high shrublands avoided plants. A weakening occurred abundance increased study area during ceasing avoidance poor risky habitats.
