摘要: The phyllodocid polychaete Notophyllum foliosum occurs in two colour morphs Swedish and Norwegian waters, one palish yellow to grey form with black patches that is restricted deeper waters often associated reefs of the deep-water coral Lophelia pertusa, usually yellow-orange white spots encountered on more shallow bottoms. We have sampled forms from sympatric occurrences Norway, west coast. Phylogenetic haplotype analyses based mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene nuclear internal transcribed spacer region (ITS1-5.8SrDNA-ITS2) unequivocally indicate represent different species. apply name N. (Sars, 1835) ‘shallow form’, propose crypticum n. sp. for ‘deep form’. A lectotype fixed foliosum.
