摘要: In a rapidly changing climate, conservation practitioners could better use geodiversity in broad range of decisions. We explored selected avenues through which this integration might improve decision making and organized them within the adaptive management cycle assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring. Geodiversity is seldom referenced predominant environmental law policy. With most natural resource agencies mandated to conserve certain categories species, agency personnel are challenged find ways practically implement new directives aimed at coping with climate change while retaining their species-centered mandate. Ecoregions ecological classifications provide clear mechanisms consider plans or decisions, inclusion will help foster resilience change. Methods for biodiversity such as gap analysis, vulnerability process modeling, can readily accommodate geophysical component. adapted others' approaches characterizing landscapes along continuum biota they support from resistant, resilient, susceptible, sensitive then summarized options integrating into planning each landscape type. that relatively resistant change, exist fully represent ensuring dynamic processes over time. more susceptible landscapes, strategies aiming maintain restore ecosystem connectivity paramount. Implementing actions on ground requires understanding constraints species an increasingly nimble approach establishing restoration goals. Because decisions implemented today be revisited amended future, sophisticated forms monitoring adaptation required ensure efforts value supporting face climate.
