摘要: Abstract Background In both humans and dogs the pulmonary vasculature is able to recruit large-diameter anatomical intrapulmonary arteriovenous anastomoses (IPAVAs). healthy people opening of these affects degree exercise-induced increase in arterial pressure. The presence IPAVAs can be demonstrated using saline contrast echocardiography. Objectives aims present study were characterize severely affected, naturally infected with Angiostrongylus vasorum, evaluate if open IPAVAs, assess recruitment such severity hypertension (PH). Animals Eight client-owned severe A. vasorum infection recruited. Methods Dogs that presented dyspnea and/or syncope prospectively screened by echocardiography for PH IPAVAs. Only affected dogs, based on a combination clinical, radiographic echocardiographic abnormalities, enrolled. Results Opening could three no moderate PH, not five PH. two thoracic radiographs showed only mild interstitial changes, while computer tomography postmortem examination revealed vascular disease. Conclusions These results suggest may play regulatory role development There marked discrepancy between changes disease vasorum.
