The effect of pretreatment of saliva on steroid hormone concentrations.

摘要: Summary: We investigated the effect of pretreatment (sonification or centrifugatio n) saliva samples on concentration several steroid hormones as measured with highly specific RIA after extraction and chromatography. It appeared that sonification resulted in significantly higher values for progesterone, cortisone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, testosterone oestradiol (10 — 49% increase), compared levels recorded centrifugation. No differences were demonstrated concentrations cortisol androstenedione, except a sex-dependent difference was observed androstenedione: sonificated male lower than those supernatant saliva.
