摘要: Measurement of salivary steroid hormone concentrations has frequently been advocated as a convenient alternative to plasma measurements. This is partly due the belief that are reliable reflection free level, reinforced by earlier inability demonstrate presence significant quantities binding proteins. Recent reports confirm such these proteins present in saliva and they retain their activity. We have measured sex globulin (SHBG) albumin from 14 men, 21 non-pregnant women 36 pregnant women. No differences concentration was evident any groups studied whereas difference SHBG between men women, individuals. Although much lower, broadly reflect those found plasma. Furthermore, highly correlation existed all studied. It now seems generally accepted arises contamination either traces blood or gingival fluids. The close relationship suggests both gain entry similar route. may significantly influence certain steroids saliva, this explain occasional failure accurately levels.
