摘要: Background: In observational studies, the zinc status of HIVinfected persons has been associated with both positive and adverse clinical outcomes. Such endpoints may affect risk birth outcomes among HIV-infected women. Objective: We examined effects supplements on outcomes, hematologicindicators, andcountsofTlymphocytesubsets 400 pregnant Design: Eligible women between 12 27 wk gestation were randomly assigned to daily oral supplementation either 25 mg Zn or placebo recruitment 6 after delivery. All received iron, folic acid, multivitamin irrespective experimental assignment. Results: observed no significant differences in weight, durationofgestation, orfetalandneonatalmortalitybetweenwomen groups. Hemoglobin concentrations increasedbetweenbaselineand6wkpostpartuminbothgroups.However,theriseinhemoglobinoverthisperiodwassignificantlylower (P 0.03) group (x SD: 11.5 17.9 g/L) than
