摘要: Oral thrush is commonly associated with HIV infection. The causative agent a yeast strain that originally commensal of the oral cavity. Most species genus Candida causes candidasis in patients if not properly identified and treated drug choice could result resistant to drugs make treatment very difficult. This study was carried out establsish spectrum common yeast(Candida albicans) candidiasis on antiretroviral Abakaliki. A total 240 samples were collected from sero-positive males(64) females(176) at two hospitals. 40 control sero-negative persons also collected. cultured Sabouraud dextrose agar isolated characterized using germ tube test sugar fermentation tests. Out subjects(HIV patients) examined for candidiasis, carriage rate 12.5%(30/240). albicans accounted 80.00% sero-postive patients, followed by pseudotropicalis(10.0%). More women, 21(8.75) had than men 9(3.75%). whether or predisposed candidiasis. C. albicans(76.19%) commonest infected ART(Active Retroviral Therapy) pseudotropicalis(14.29%), tropicalis(4.76%) parapsilosis(4.76%). Among ART albicans(88.89%) most prevalent, guilliermondii(11.11%). still remains leading cause oropharyngeal within population. Constant identification isolates yeasts infecting immune compromised will further enhance appropriate minimize spread emergence antifungal resistance.
