摘要: Abstract Helospectins I and II are two non-amidated, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP)-like peptides, isolated from the salivary gland venom of lizard Heloderma horridum . Helospectin has 38 amino acid residues differs helospectin in that it an additional serine residue at C-terminus. The study was based on antiserum recognizes both helospectins (but VIP only poorly). Immunocytochemistry digestive tract revealed helospectin-immunoreactive nerve fibers muscle layers, submucosa mucosa mouse, rat, hamster, guinea-pig man. Myenteric submucous ganglia all species contained cell bodies. distribution helospectin-like immunoreactivity gut resembled VIP. Double immunostaining for their co-existence same population bodies throughout tested. In addition, not VIP) observed a endocrine cells intestines. existence material confirmed by immunochemistry. extracts diluted parallel to standard curve. Analysis high performance liquid chromatography rat intestine one predominant peak eluted close authentic II. may constitute novel neuropeptide co-exists with VIP-helospectin-immunoreactive neurons indicates possible involvement regulation motor secretory activities.
