摘要: Recently a commissural fiber projection that terminates in the outer molecular layer of fascia dentata was described normal rats (Deller et al., 1995). In present article, Phaseolus vulgaris leucoagglutinin (PHAL) tracing used to analyze contribution this previously unknown sprouting response after entorhinal cortex lesion. Rats 4–8 weeks unilateral lesion received single PHAL deposit into hilus contralateral side. Unlesioned control animals similar deposit. The degree axonal arborization and bouton density per axon length were determined for individual PHAL-labeled axons dentate gyrus. A significant increase both parameters observed lesioned group. fibers established symmetric synapses denervated layer. Postembedding immunocytochemistry indicated some these are GABAergic. Our findings provide morphological evidence lamina-specific an inhibitory normally This suggests participate replacement excitatory perforant pathway
