摘要: Abstract Phenomena associated with repeated frictional contact of 65/35 brass specimens have been studied from a crystallographic viewpoint. A special type deformed surface layer was formed under unlubricated conditions at room temperature. The thickness the often exceeded 50 μm. It greater hardness than that by ordinary wear or severe cold working. Experimental evidence indicated either non-crystalline composed very fine grains. Differences in mechanisms damage caused contact, and fretting fatigue are discussed.
