Lesbian mothers' experiences of maternity care in the UK

摘要: Abstract Objective: to explore the maternity care experiences of a sample lesbians in UK order evaluate service delivery this group. Design: descriptive study, using both qualitative and quantitative survey methods elicit ‘rich' accounts women's experiences. Participants: convenience 50 women, reporting on total 65 pregnancies. Findings: while participants were generally appreciative they received, also reported high levels anxiety about implications disclosure, together with acute awareness midwives' personal attitudes prejudices. Their comments demonstrate extent which these issues may negatively impact quality care, study reveals examples discomfort, inappropriate even hostility. Key conclusions for practice: ‘booking in' antenatal education are identified as two areas where is least effective meeting needs client Findings used drawing up Royal College Midwives' position paper lesbian mothers.
