摘要: Public understanding of risks is likely to be informed by the media. We report a cross-national study looking at how newspapers in Sweden and United Kingdom characterize variety risks, focusing on two months around 10th anniversary Chernobyl accident. Approximately four times as many reports about were found U.K., possibly reflecting Swedish safety culture. The Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) crisis dominated reporting both countries, especially U.K. proportion pattern was similar across countries. However, Sweden, there an increase other nuclear hazards after anniversary, suggesting that generalization media concern may have occurred. Generally, BSE discussed using greater number characterizations while reported more Sweden. Reports tended alarmist rather than reassuring, rarely used statistics express degrees risk. Language: en
