摘要: Cerebrovascular diseases are the third leading cause of death and primary long-term disability in United States. The only approved therapy for stroke is tPA, strongly limited by short therapeutic window hemorrhagic complications, therefore excluding most patients from its benefits. Parkinson's Huntington's disease other two studied basal ganglia and, as stroke, have very treatment options. Inflammation a key feature central nervous system disorders it plays dual role, either improving injury early phases or impairing neural survival at later stages. Stem cells can be opportunely used to modulate inflammation, abrogate cell therefore, preserve function. We here discuss role stem restorative treatments disorders, including disease, with special emphasis recently investigated menstrual blood cells. highlight availability, proliferative capacity, pluripotentiality angiogenic features these explore their present future experimental clinical applications.
