摘要: Spinal cord injury (SCI) results in paralysis and marked loss of skeletal muscle bone below the level injury. Modest activity prevents atrophy, whereas much larger—and as yet poorly defined—bone loading seems necessary to prevent loss. Once established, may be irreversible. SCI is associated with reductions growth hormone, IGF-1, testosterone, deficiencies likely exacerbate further bone. Reduced mass inactivity are assumed contributors high prevalence insulin resistance diabetes this population. Alterations gene expression after share common features other states, but even so, show distinct profiles, possibly reflecting influences neuromuscular due spasticity. Changes cells markers have similarities conditions unloading, although these changes more dramatic, perhaps greater magnitude unloading. Adiposity marrow fat increased intriguing, though understood, implications for function cells.
