摘要: Populations of vertebrates are built individuals different sex, age class or stage, which often affect distinctly the population dynamics. Such intrapopulation partitioning vital rates needs to be identified develop efficient conservation actions. Using DNA extracted from feces and feathers we combined DNA-tagging mark–recapture analyses evaluate sex-specific dynamics an endangered capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus; Phasianidae). We encounter histories for 120 in mating seasons 2009–2011, a study area about 424 km2. Minimum number per season estimates size ranged 56–67 76–115, respectively. Estimates were consistently lower multiple-season, open-population models than single-season closed-population models. The super-population was 149 whole period. Sex-ratio notably male-biased. Probability recapture p 0.62–0.70, similar males females. Female apparent survival φ expected, much male survival. It includes however movements out sampled population, thus comparison with previously reported values based on conventional tagging should cautious. Females showed higher turnover, indicated by probability β entering entries super-population, Bgross. Realized growth rate ʎ was > 1 both females males. combination non-intrusive analytical framework provided inferences that would have been hardly feasible methods. Male-biased sex ratios, female turnover seemingly low our key findings. While continuous monitoring, believe adult deserve priority attention evaluation design
