摘要: Purpose: To report the results of two studies on use dorzolamide as adjunctive therapy to timolol in patients with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). In larger study, additive effect administered twice daily also was compared 2% pilocarpine. Methods: Both were parallel, randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled comparisons. pilot 32 received 0.5% plus either or placebo for 8 days. Pilocarpine Comparison Study, 261 0.7% daily, pilocarpine four times (twice 4 daily) 2 weeks. Patients then entered a 6-month extension period and daily. Results: after days, additional mean percent reductions IOP 17% 3% at morning trough 19% peak, respectively. 6 months, (morning trough) 9%, 13%, 10% dorzolamide, pilocarpine, receiving had highest rate discontinuation due clinical adverse experience, not associated systemic side effects commonly observed oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Conclusion: Dorzolamide effective well tolerated by these timolol. The study demonstrated that both concentrations produce similar IOP-lowering
