摘要: ABSTRACT The multidrug-resistant "Iberian" clone of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was first identified on the basis its unique DNA fingerprints as strain responsible for massive 1989 outbreak MRSA disease in hospital Princeps d'Espanya, Barcelona, Spain. Most Iberian carry a constitutive β-lactamase. They are resistant to most β-lactam antibiotics, macrolides, aminoglycosides, tetracycline, rifampin and ciprofloxacin susceptible fosfomycin, fusidic acid, mupirocin, sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim vancomycin. characteristic include mecA polymorph I, Tn554 pattern E (or variants), chromosomal macrorestriction (pulsed-field gel electrophoretic type) A subtype lack mecI regulatory gene homogeneous, high level expression melhicillin resistance. Molecular surveillance studies have documented extensive spread this many Portuguese hospitals during t...
