摘要: Fluid-electrolyte deficiencies may accumulate over several days in athletes whose diets contain nutrients (eg, water, sodium, potassium) quantities that are smaller than the losses occur sweat and urine. Individualized assessment personalized dietary recommendations necessary, especially cases of water or salt depletion, heat exhaustion, cramps. Unfortunately, no composite source these techniques exists. The purpose this article is to describe methods validly assess urine volumes, electrolyte concentrations, fluid intake, 24-hour balance for who train compete hot environments. Reference (ie, expected) values, sample data sheets, a case report presented. These allow motivated professionals characterize fluid-electrolyte status thereby suggest modifications diet ing habits. Without techniques, must resort inaccurate indirect estimates whole-body balance.
