摘要: • Forty-two previously untreated patients with predominantly stage IV (35) head and neck squamous cell carcinoma were treated preoperatively mitomycin fluorouracil concomitant radiotherapy 5,000 to 6,000 rad using a split-course technique. Toxic reactions acceptable. Five developed severe mucositis. The white blood count fell 1,500/cu mm in two patients; the platelet 100,000/cu three. Other complications occurred three patients. Eightysix percent of completed advised treatment. Complete response, assessed clinically histologic correlation, was 79% at primary sites 69% nodal sites. Twenty-seven had complete response (64%). Follow-up currently is between ten 24 months. Though analysis disease-free intervals survival data premature, high rates this study are encouraging. ( Arch Otolaryngol 1985;111:220-222)
