摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter outlines two basic procedures for the transplantation of quail embryo somites into chick embryos. Although methods were developed independently, both employ a remarkably similar surgical strategy, even down to sequence incisions. The similarity in incision reflects mechanical constraints inherent tissues within avian embryo. Nevertheless, combining materials or techniques from can exploit advantages and minimize disadvantages. In addition, these also be used perform modified somite transplantations fragments. Tranplantation fragments elucidate fate different portions developing somite. Half-somite has proven particularly useful this regard because easily divided half along each its three axes. connections between half-somite fragments, however, are somewhat more fragile than those whole somites, so care must taken their isolation transfer. strategies that have revealing novel aspects early development.
