摘要: Abstract Genotoxicity studies evaluate the effects of pollutants on organisms and consequently, their implications human health. Meretrix ovum was exposed to different concentrations monocrotophos, viz. 5.5, 11.0 16.5 mg/L continuously for four time periods 2, 3, 7 14 days. Gills these animals were collected immediately after exposure at above intervals analyzed genotoxic effect employing micronucleus test somatic growth by estimating total RNA/DNA ratio. Data Student’s ‘t’ ANOVA. Significant increase micronuclei observed in present study a dose dependant manner indicates possible chromosomal damage induced monocrotophos this species thereby reveals its potency. reduction ratio considerable retardation treated mussels. Results indicate that is M. also induces pollution stress related mussel. Further, indicated possibility using MN bivalves as marker screening/monitoring potential aquatic ecosystems.
