摘要: Objectives To study the effects of augmentation continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) education and support on compliance outcome in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Design A randomized, controlled, parallel basic vs augmented CPAP support. Setting university teaching hospital. Patients total 108 OSA randomized into basic-support (BS) augmented-support (AS) groups. Interventions BS group (n = 54) were given educational brochures CPAP, by nurses, acclimatization, reviewed physicians nurses at weeks 4 12. AS received more education, including a videotape, telephone early review 1 2. Measurements Objective compliance, Calgary quality life index (SAQLI), cognitive function after month 3 months; Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS) months treatment. Results At weeks, usage was 5.3 ± 0.2 h/night (mean SEM) 5.5 groups, respectively (p 0.4). 12 0.3 two 0.98). There greater improvement SAQLI 0.008) 0.047) group. no significant difference between groups terms ESS function. Conclusion Augmentation does not increase but leads to during reinforced period.
