摘要: Purpose. To compare the efficacy of each seven expressed herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) glycoproteins as vaccines to protect against ocular disease after primary HSV-1 infection. Methods. Mice were vaccinated three times with equal amounts individually (gB, gC, gD, gE, gG, gH, and gl) then ocularly challenged McKrae, a corneal disease-producing strain HSV-1. Viral clearance from eye, blepharitis, keratitis, neovascularization determined at various Results. gD or gB had best protection eye disease. Vaccination gI, gE produced moderate gG less protection, vaccination gH no apparent Conclusions. These results suggest that when used vaccines, different provide levels HSV-1-induced Based on comparison authors' previously published results, ability glycoprotein correlated induce high serum neutralizing antibody titers killer cell activity. Results effectiveness these in protecting can be ranked follows : > gI (gC = gE) gH. Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 1995 ;36 :1352-1360.
