摘要: New Zealand kauri is an ancient, iconic, gymnosperm tree species that under threat from a lethal dieback disease caused by the oomycete Phytophthora agathidicida. To gain insight into this pathogen, we determined whether proteinaceous effectors of P. agathidicida interact with immune system model angiosperm, Nicotiana, as previously shown for pathogens angiosperms. From genome, defined and analysed set RXLR effectors, class proteins typically have important roles in suppressing or activating plant system. RXLRs were screened their ability to activate suppress Nicotiana using Agrobacterium tumefaciens transient transformation assays. Nine triggered cell death suppressed immunity which three expressed kauri. For most highly expressed, (Pa) RXLR24, candidate cognate receptors associated identified benthamiana RNA silencing-based approaches. Our results show pathogen gymnosperms can angiosperm species. This study provides foundation studying molecular basis plant-pathogen interactions forest trees, including
