Is There a Difference? Exploring Male and Female Correctional Officers' Definition of and Response to Conflict Situations

摘要: Abstract Although the use of force in corrections is a topic interest, little known about factors that influence correctional officers' decisions. In particular, very similarities and differences between male female officers their definitions responses to conflict situations. Interviews were conducted with 192 at large southwestern jail. Using realistic vignette an inmate disobeying direct order, 96 asked perceptions defining responding conflict. Results indicate react situations similar manner, although it appears inmate's sex salient factor decision on how resolve
