摘要: Abstract Production of citric acid by Aspergillus niger was studied in a rotating biological contactor (RBC) consisting plastic disks mounted on horizontal shaft with polyurethane foam (PUF), as porous biomass support, attached each side the RBC disks. Mycelia A. formed biofilm immobilized cells surface PUF. The RBC–PUF system operated rotational speed 10 rev/min during stage formation. mature exposed to fermentation medium and air space alternately. results showed that volumetric productivity obtained (0.896 g/l h) almost three times higher than stirred-tank fermenter (0.33 h). active for over 8-cycle periods production repetitive use without loss bioactivity.
