摘要: Abstract Five monoclonal antibodies directed against Streptococcus mutans strain JBP lipoteichoic acid (LTA) were characterized. They all similarly reactive with the immunizing LTA-containing extract, intact Strep. cells and LTA purified from Lactobacillus casei . Immobilized anti-LTA removes extracts. The binding of to was inhibited by aqueous extract but not organic de-acylated LTA, indicating reactivity polyglycerol-phosphate portion molecule. Antibodies serotypes , as well strains salivarius, sanguis L. LTA-negative species mitis or Actinomyces viscosus Anti-LTA at doses 0.3 3.0 μg/ml, had no effect on adherence experimental salivary pellicles formed hydroxyapatite, enhanced 150–300 per cent 30 μg/ml. There in a chemostat model which measured sucrose-dependent plaque accumulation results argue major role for vitro
