摘要: The fluctuations in the demand for construction work have often resulted in skills shortages. This has led to need effective labour market planning strategies, which enable industry meet its skills requirements, particularly periods of peak demand. Existing approaches to labour market several limitations. They do not shed light on socio-economic and spatially influenced issues within which the industry’s skills shortages are rooted. There is, therefore, a more appropriate decision-support mechanisms that can take account spatial problems terms supply influences. Through industry involvement, this research explored how GIS enhance process construction. briefly reviews the nature construction, introduces geographic information systems, highlights opportunities they offer overcoming the limitations existing approaches. implementation GIS-based system its application specific initiative is then presented. evaluation system by prospective end-users reveals the enablers, barriers benefits implementation. Organisational issues had bearing also examined and recommendations made further research.
