摘要: Background Executive dysfunction has been reported at different ages in autism. It is not clear however, when this impairment emerges or how its expression affected by development. Methods 61 non-mentally retarded autism participants (AUT) and age, gender, IQ matched typically developing (CON) were assessed with two oculomotor executive function tasks, the delayed response task (ODR) antisaccade (AS), as well a visually-guided saccade sensorimotor (VGS). Results The AUT group demonstrated impairments inhibition spatial working memory all tested. Developmental improvements speed of processing voluntary similar both groups indicating sparing some attentional control behavior. progression initiating cognitive plan maintaining information on line over time, was impaired abnormal development memory. Conclusions These results indicate that while present throughout development, there evidence for typical atypical developmental functions plasticity suggested may have implications regarding appropriate epochs types interventions aimed enhancing capacities individuals
