摘要: There are strong incentives to better understand the basic physiology of mammalian ovary. Functioning ovaries have an enormous impact on health and well-being women beyond their role in conception. Further, survivorship after treatment for cancer other life-threatening illnesses is increasing. Maintaining ovarian function during therefore critical, given benefits functional potential desire conceive. Basic research efforts resulted increased access human ovary tissue, a number key technologies moving into widespread clinical use less than decade. In this chapter, we review biology follicle, including recent data stem cell support organ, clarify difference between oocyte follicle maturation vivo with goal “oocyte maturation.” Breakthroughs will continue result from interplay among infertility treatment, preserve fertility, advances our understanding biology.
