摘要: Abstract The uptake of inorganic sulfate in Neurospora crassa occurs by a transport system that is energy-dependent, highly temperature-dependent, and under complex controls. Sulfate repressed during growth on medium replete with methionine, but neither methionine nor other end products the pathway are external inhibitors process. Two separate sulfate-transport systems, encoded unlinked genes, predominate different stages life cycle. Permease I, which has relatively high K m for sulfate, present conidia while permease II replaces earlier species when outgrowth into mycelial phase occurs. Mutants individually lack either systems can still to some extent grow at wild-type rate minimal medium. Mutant strains lacking both unable utilize completely fail this anion, otherwise appear have an intact assimilatory sulfate. Evidence given first enzyme pathway, ATP-sulfurylase, not controlled manner like permeases.
