摘要: ABSTRACTSurvey response format has been shown to influence norm prevalence (percentage reporting a norm) and the numerical value of reported norm. This article summarizes an experiment where respondents were randomly assigned one two conditions. In semi-open treatment, (n = 817) “wrote in number” for acceptable number visitor encounters. closed individuals 826) “circled encounters along range possible responses. Hypothesis 1 predicted that would be higher than semi-open. 2 mean tolerance level differ treatments. Results supported hypothesis 1. The percent was statistically versus treatment. failed support 2. average levels formats equivalent.
