摘要: Background: Trapeziometacarpal joint arthritis is a disabling condition presenting with pain at the base of thumb causing impairment hand function. Nonoperative treatment an early stage includes intraarticular steroid injection. Although this may bring about prompt symptomatic relief, its efficacy unpredictable. Objectives: There previous evidence that injection sodium hyaluronate effective and safe in knee arthritis. We proposed hyaluronate, for trapeziometacarpal arthritis, could provide relief without adverse effects steroids. Methods: Fifty-two patients grade II were randomized prospectively either methylprednisolone or injections. Initial evaluation included estimation pain, grip, pinch strengths functional Purdue Pegboard Test (PPT). This was repeated after 1, 3, 6 months statistically compared initial evaluation. Results: In both groups, produced 1 month. Grip strength improved significantly group treated by during whole period. The showed improvement grip PPT 3 months. Conclusions: Steroids injections found reducing pain. Hyaluronate more some aspects fine
