摘要: Abstract Exposure to cigarette smoke and ethanol are proposed trigger neurotoxicity, apoptosis, impair neuronal signaling. However, it is little known how the combination of both might astrogliosis morphological changes capable affecting a differential susceptibility hippocampal regions these licit drugs. The present study investigated chronic effects exposure and/or on behavioral parameters, alteration in immunoreactivity glial fibrillary acid protein (GFAP) S100β CA1, CA3, dentate gyrus (DG) rat hippocampus. Adult male Wistar rats (n = 32) were divided into four groups: vehicle (VE, glucose 3% water, 10 mL/kg), (TOB, total 12 cigarettes per day), (ethanol, 2 g/kg), plus (TOB ethanol, day 2 g/kg) for 54 days. groups submitted tail-flick, open-field, inhibitory avoidance tasks. results showed that se worsened short-term memory. association between TOB increased cleaved caspase-3 CA3 DG regions. group lower GFAP all In addition, also reduced DG. Ethanol only conclusion, this memory, became more susceptible markers investigated. This evidence suggests sensitive neurotoxicity induced by ethanol.
