摘要: This article focuses on the growing prospects for a nuclear power renaissance in Europe. While accepting conventional wisdom that incipient is being driven by climate change and energy security concerns, we argue it would not be possible without pioneering work of Sweden Finland providing technological sociopolitical solution to industry’s longstanding “Achilles’ heel”: safe, permanent, locally acceptable disposal high-level radioactive waste. In this article, track long decline sudden resurgence Europe, examining correlation between fortunes industry emergence Swedish model addressing waste problem. Through an in-depth exploration evolution siting initiated adopted successfully implemented Finland, emphasize importance transparency, trust, volunteerism, “nuclear oases”: locations already host substantial facilities.
