摘要: Betamethasone topical nasal drops may have systemic corticosteroid activity and cause suppression of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis impairment bone turnover. The aim this study was to assess effect a standard 6-week regime betamethasone on HPA (using physiological dose (1 microg) ACTH test) turnover markers turnover, urinary deoxypyridinoline serum specific alkaline phosphatase). Eleven patients with polyposis were included in prospective cohort study. Plasma cortisol lower after treatment at all time intervals (P < 0. 0001). There no change corrected for creatinine or phosphatase. Six weeks' recommended doses suppresses axis, but has significant upon Topical subjects polyps should be viewed as administration long short-term sequelae borne mind.
