Mammal populations in mountain ash(Eucalyptus regnans)forests of various ages in the Central Highlands of Victoria

摘要: Summary The presence, abundance and habitat preference of mammal species in Eucalyptus regnans forests various ages the Central Highlands Victoria were studied order to determine probable effects on them forest management for timber production. areas investigated found support a rich fauna; 24 native 5 introduced detected. Results showed that young regrowth up 20 years age resulting from recent logging operations contained many species, some which occurred at high population densities (e.g. bush rat Rattus fuscipes, brown antechinus Antechinus stuartii swamp wallaby Wallabia bicolor).
