摘要: We present homogeneous vapor-liquid nucleation rates of the 1-alcohols (CnH2n+1OH, n = 2‑4) measured in well-established two-valve pulse chamber as well a novel one-piston at temperatures between 235 and 265 K. The critical cluster sizes show very systematic behavior with respect to hydrocarbon chain length alcohol, just their thermo-physical parameters such surface tension, vapor pressure, density would suggest. For all alcohols, except ethanol, predictions classical theory lie several orders magnitude below experimental results strong temperature-dependence typically found experiments. more recent Reguera-Reiss [J. Phys. Chem. B 108(51), 19831 (2004)] achieves reasonably good for 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, independent temperature. Ethanol, however, clearly shows influence association molecules even t...
